HERE COMES THE SUN: I bet you remember this song…
“Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right
Little darling
It’s been a long, cold lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It’s all right”
The sky has cleared over most all of Alabama this afternoon with bright sunshine, but the weather is still cold with temperatures only in the low to mid 40s at most places at mid-afternoon. A chilly north wind is making it feel colder.
Tonight will be clear and cold… the wind will die down, and we are headed for the mid 20s early tomorrow morning.
REST OF THE WEEK: Tomorrow will be sunny with a high in the 51-55 degree range, but colder air arrives Thursday as our highs drops back into the 40s. But, at least the sky will remain mostly sunny on Thursday.
Friday will stay dry with a high in the low to mid 50s, but clouds will increase late in the day.
WET START TO THE WEEKEND: Not much change in our thinking for the weekend. Rain is likely Saturday with a fast moving, robust short wave. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely, and the main window for the rain comes from 3:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday. There might be a bit of thunder, but very little surface based instability so no severe weather problems.
Sunday will be dry and colder; the sky becomes mostly sunny with a high in the 40s and a chilly north wind. Sunday will pose an interesting forecast for our friends up in the Northeast U.S. where they could see lots of wind and snow.
NEXT WEEK: We stay cool and dry for the first half of next week; see the Weather Xtreme video for maps, graphics, and details.
CHRISTMAS THOUGHTS: The GFS continues to show hints of another Arctic blast for much of the nation around Christmastime. It isn’t on every run, but we are getting some decent consistency in the idea, and some of the operational runs hint this might be the coldest Christmas since 1989 for some parts of the U.S. Again, see the Weather Xtreme video for details.
WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. Scroll down for the show notes for this week’s new episode we recorded last night.
