Sunday Afternoon Update
Quite the range in temperatures across the state today. We have lower 40s in the northwestern counties, upper 40s in Central Alabama, then as you get down into the southern part of the state, upper 70s being reported this afternoon. You can definitely tell there is a frontal boundary across the state today and associated with the boundary, some unsettled weather.
We have certainly been socked in with the clouds the past few days and that continues again today. Overcast conditions across much of the state, but you can tell by the temperatures and the satellite view that there is some sunshine across southern portions of the state.
Underneath all these clouds, we are seeing a lot of rain across central and northern portions of the state. Heavy rain and even some elevated thunderstorms are ongoing along the Interstate 59 corridor as the rain is continuing to lift northeast across the Southeast. Looking at the regional radar, there is still quite a bit of convection in Mississippi that will be heading our way. Expect several more hours of rain and it to be wet heading into the evening hours. Thankfully, the sub-freezing air is off to our north or we would be experiencing a significant ice storm across the state today.
