Early Afternoon Radar Check

| December 5, 2013 @ 12:43 pm

Showers are lifting northeast across Alabama this afternoon.

Locations in central Alabama from Bibb County east to Randolph County are seeing light to moderate rain this afternoon. There is another cluster of showers and it looks like a few thunderstorms across southwestern portions of the state impacting parts of Dallas, Wilcox, and Monroe Counties.

Currently, there are no thunderstorms in north-central Alabama, but we are expecting that to change as a cold front will be moving into the state and will be enhancing the uplift that will lead to thunderstorm development. The SPC maintains a slight risk for severe weather for Alabama for this afternoon and into the overnight hours. There could be a few strong storms and perhaps an isolated severe one, but nothing too widespread is expected.
