Alabama 811 | Know What's Below.

A Cold, Wet Night

| November 25, 2013 @ 5:28 pm

Throughout the afternoon there have been several reports of sleet mixed in with rain north of Interstate 20. This mixing could continue for a few more hours, before it all switches over to rain.

The rain shield is beginning to make it into central Alabama and it stretches all the way back into eastern Texas. Once the rain starts at your location, expect several hours of moderate to heavy rain overnight. The temperatures are about where they will stay for the next 24 hours, so no problem with any wintry precip on any of the roadways.

The more intense rain remains north of Interstate 20 this evening, but that will change heading through the night. All of Alabama will see a soaking rain during the next 24 hours. The better dynamics with this system remain off to our west and as they approach, we are expecting the showers to continue and expand in coverage. Many areas will receive 2-3 inches of rain.

Currently the more intense rain is falling across portions of Fayette, Lamar, and Pickens counties.
