Clouds, Rain and Cooler Temperatures

| October 6, 2013 @ 1:06 pm

As expected today, our next storm system has started moving into the state and is bringing a change in the weather. A strong cold front is causing unsettled weather across the state and most of Alabama is seeing mostly cloudy to overcast skies. The system is moving a little faster and skies are already beginning to clear along the Mississippi River.

Underneath those clouds, a soaking rain is ongoing across much of central Alabama. Moderate to heavy rain is falling in many areas. No severe weather is expected, but some gusty winds may occur throughout the afternoon. The rain should continue to shift east and is expected to clear the state by later this evening.

The cold front has made it into Alabama as evident by the wind shift at Muscle Shoals as well as other observations across central Mississippi. Temperatures and dew points are dropping behind the front and that air mass will be settling into Alabama. That means terrific fall weather is in store for Alabama for the new work week.
