A Nice September Sunday
A beautiful September Sunday is in progress across Central Alabama with bright blue skies over a wide area. The exception is over eastern sections, where morning stratus has been gradually eroding and converting in straocumulus and cumulus.
Temperatures have warmed nicely, especially in the sunny areas, with abundant sunshine, with 2 p.m. readings ranging from 83F at Anniston to 86F at Birmingham to 88F at Tuscaloosa.
The rest of the afternoon will be dry and warm. Tonight will be fair and comfortable with overnight lows in the middle to upper 50s with a few lower 60s in urban locations.
An approaching front may trigger a few widely scattered shower or storms late tomorrow and tomorrow night, with a few disturbances providing support for more widely scattered showers/storms through midweek. It will continue to be warm.
LATEST ON INGRID:
Minimal Hurricane Ingrid is about 100 miles east of the Mexican Coast this afternoon. It is moving west northwest and a westward turn will bring it to the coast early Monday morning, well south of the Texas coast. It will bring life threatening floods and mudslides into Mexico.
