Another Beautiful Day

It was really a nice day yesterday, and it looks like a repeat for today as temperatures climb just a bit. We should see highs into the middle 80s in Central Alabama. Great day at the beach, too, with plenty of sunshine – 6 to 8 hours – with only a small chance for a passing shower.

Monday and Tuesday look dry as the temperatures continue to inch upward with highs in the upper 80s. Some spots will nudge the 90-degree mark once again. A weak front is forecast to come into the area Tuesday, but I think moisture will be very limited, so I think we stay dry. Wednesday and Thursday the upper ridge remains in place for the Southeast US, but with a little low level moisture, we could see isolated showers. Again, most people remain dry. And not much change in temperatures, either, as we stay in the middle and upper 80s for highs, lows in the 60s.

A strong trough moving through the westerlies on Friday will bring a front into the Ohio River Valley, and that front should make its way into the Southeast on Saturday and Sunday. The big question is going to be just how much moisture the front will have to work with to produce showers. No wash out is expected, but this is probably the best chance for rain in the next week or so. Highs are expected to be in the 80s with a few more clouds to deal with.

As is frequently the case, the GFS has done somewhat of a flip with much of week 2 dominated by an upper ridge. If this does occur, then the end of September will continue to be rather warm.

The tropics remains a bit active. The remnants of Humberto may re-generate in the next couple of days, however, it will remain well out in the Atlantic. In the Southwest Gulf of Mexico, Ingrid continued to slowly gain strength with a slow movement toward the Mexican coast. Ingrid should make landfall during the day Monday. A big threat from this storm will be flash flooding with 10 to 15 inches of rain possible in East Central Mexico.
