Mostly Sunny, Isolated Thunderstorms

| August 31, 2013 @ 2:52 pm

It is a hot and muggy day for most locations across Alabama this afternoon. Ample sunshine has allowed most areas to warm into the lower and mid 90s. The sunshine has also allowed instability to increase across the state and has allowed for a few areas of thunderstorms to develop. A look at the latest satellite image shows mostly sunny skies, but there are a few pockets of clouds.

A check of the radar shows that underneath the clouds, there are some intense thunderstorms. Heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds are accompanying these storms this afternoon. There will continue to head in a southerly direction over the next few hours.
