Drier with Cool Mornings Ahead

The drier air is making its way into Central Alabama to give us some relief from the high humidity. And by Monday and Tuesday morning we could see some spots with lows dipping into the upper 50s – that will make for a refreshing start to the day.

Not much to discuss in our overall weather pattern with the upper ridge getting a grip on the weather pattern and holding on for much of the upcoming week. With a drier easterly flow at the surface, we will see lows mainly in the lower 60s on Monday and Tuesday climbing into upper 80s for highs. The upper ridge ebbs and flows keeping things dry for much of the week ahead. By the end of the week and into the weekend, a weak front makes its way into the area but moisture is expected to remain somewhat limited. This will mean isolated showers will become possible for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

For beach goers, the weather is gradually improving. Rain chances remain fairly high today but should be less on Monday. Highs will be in the range of 84 to 87. Clouds stick around today with only an hour or so of sunshine but tomorrow should see about 6 hours of sun.

Only slight risk area in the US is well to the north of Alabama in the western Great Lakes. The tropics are still pretty quiet. The area of disturbed weather moving across the northern Gulf has elongated but does not show any signs of development. In the Southwest Gulf, however, NHC has ramped up the potential for tropical development with the disturbed area there. It could become a tropical storm before reaching Mexico.

Voodoo country still has some interesting speculation. The idea of our first good front of the year is still on the board as a strong upper trough develops over the Central US. However, much as expected, the tropical mischief we saw yesterday over Florida has changed in a big way with that mischief in the western Atlantic.
