More Sun Than Clouds

| August 24, 2013 @ 11:59 am

Not a bad looking Saturday across much of the state. Most locations are seeing mostly sunny skies this midday with only a few cumulus clouds. These conditions are allowing temperatures to climb into the mid 80s. Clouds have been hanging tough this morning in portions of East Alabama and this cloud cover has kept temperatures from warming as fast in these areas. Many areas remain in the upper 70s along the highway 431 corridor.

Cloudy conditions are being reported along the Gulf Coast as well. These clouds are associated with an area of disturbed weather in the northern Gulf of Mexico that is slowly pushing west today. Showers and storms are expected along the beaches today, but conditions should begin to improve by tomorrow.

Drier air is slowly working into the mid-levels today, but we will still have to mention a chance for some widely scattered afternoon thunderstorms later today. However, most location should remain dry this afternoon and for the next several days.
