Heavy thunderstorms over northern Jefferson County are producing torrential rains and frequent lightning.

Rainfall rates of over 1 inch per hour are falling around Fultondale. Skywatcher Terry Sasser reports 3.03 inches of rain and continuing to rain buckets.

These heavy storms extend up to east of Kimberly.

Others are over southwestern Jefferson and northwestern Shelby County between Bessemer and Helena. They are part of a broken line of storms that extends back across northern Bibb and southern Tuscaloosa Counties.

In Northwest Alabama, western Marion and extreme northern Lamar Counties are getting heavy storms as well.

More storms are over southwestern Chilton, Autauga and Lowndes Counties.

Be alert for localized flash flooding and deadly lightning in the vicinity of these storms.

Everything is moving slowly northward.
