Strong Storms Persist

West Alabama is seeing the most active weather this afternoon. Very strong storms are impacting portions of Pickens, Greene, Hale, Marengo and Sumter Counties. No storms are currently severe, but storms could pulse up in intensity and reach severe limits briefly. Hail is possible, but damaging winds are main severe weather threat.

All storms are producing very heavy rain and frequent lightning. Isolated flash flooding it the greatest threat will today’s activity.

There are also strong storms impacting areas of east of Interstate 65. Portions of Coosa, Elmore, Montgomery and Bullock counties are seeing very heavy rain with storms this afternoon as well.

Most of the storms are moving towards the southeast and should continue to affect portions of Central Alabama the next few hours.
