For the Rest of Tonight

| July 13, 2013 @ 8:59 pm

A check of the radar this evening shows that most of the unsettled weather is across southern portions of the state where is has been most of the day. Chilton and Autauga Counties have seen several rounds of storms today, but the more widespread activity has been south and east of Montgomery. Over the last few hours we have see additional showers and storms develop over some of our western counties. Portions of Pickens, Lamar and Marion counties are seeing some heavy rain and lightning this evening. Storms will continue to move off to the west tonight and we could see a few additional thunderstorms during the overnight hours.

Heading into your Sunday, expect more widespread showers and thunderstorms. Tomorrow actually looks to be the day with the best chance for rain for the next seven days. Many areas will see mostly cloudy skies and many of us should see showers and thunderstorms. Not expecting severe weather, but as we have seen over the last few weeks, these storms could be strong and quite intense. The main issues could come from a flooding threat, but be careful as frequent and dangerous lightning will occur. Storms should be more widespread across southern and eastern portions of the state once again, but we do expect more convection across Central Alabama tomorrow compared to today. Just like today, all convection that develops will move from east to west.
