A tornado warning has been issued for a severe thunderstorm for a couple of counties in East Central Mississippi. There is strong indication of rotation near Damascus. This is just northwest of Meridian.

Alan Gerard at the NWS Jackson mentioned that the cell has 80 knots of gate to gate shear.

LATE NOTE 11:44
Alan Gerard reports TDS on the Kemper County MS storm. It is north of Damascus.

This is a developing situation and we expect to see more activity like this throughout the day. These are the storms that we are going to have to watch very carefully today. This cell is out ahead of the main line and poses a dangerous threat for people and locations in its path.

If this storm holds together, it could be impacting areas in West Alabama including portions of Pickens and Lamar Counties before 1:00 p.m.
