Close is for … the Drier and Cooler Air

| September 18, 2012 @ 8:53 pm

Just before 9 pm this evening, current conditions across Alabama showed a cold front as defined by the wind shift had reached a line from Athens, GA, to about Tallahassee, FL, and then into the Gulf. It is along this line that the wind shifts from south-southwest to northwest. However, the dry air has dragged its heels and was just barely into Northwest Alabama. If you draw a line from just east of Chattanooga, TN, to Columbus, MS, to Jackson, MS, the dew point was in the 60s east and south of that line while it was in the 50s north and west of that line. Dew points had even reached the 40s in West Tennessee with Muscle Shoals and Tupelo coming in at 48 and 49 respectively.

By tomorrow morning, we should wake up to dew points in the upper 40s from Chattanooga to Birmingham to Tuscaloosa while temperatures dip into the lower 50s for most locations under a clear sky.

Yet another refreshing taste of Fall for us to enjoy for several days.
