Storms Moving Across Birmingham

| August 13, 2012 @ 1:34 pm

Our line of storms is moving across the Birmingham metro at this hour, but they are weakening as they go.

They are approaching downtown right now.  The line extends from Decatur to Cullman to west of Birmingham to Centreville to Marion.

The line is moving east at 30 mph.

Expect brief heavy rain and occasional lightning. Winds should be minimal.

The northern part of the line is stronger, with severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for parts of Limestone, Madison and Morgan Counties.  This is closer to the head of the MCV that is moving across the Tennessee Valley.

Hale and Sumter Counties were just cleared from the watch.  The severe thunderstorm watch continues for Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Chilton, Dallas, Etowah, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair and Talladega counties til 8 p.m.
