Strong Storms Moving In

| August 13, 2012 @ 11:05 am

There are showers and some strong thunderstorms moving into the western areas of the state. Lamar and Marion Counties will be impacted first and then other counties across the area as the activity continues and eastward movement through out the afternoon. The storm should begin to impact the Birmingham Metro around 1PM.

None of these storms are currently severe, but they have had a history of hail, damaging winds and flash flooding back in northern Mississippi. Also, very dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning will be associated with these storms. Remember your lightning safety, when thunder roars, go indoors.
