Tornado Warning: Parts of Chambers, Lee and Tallapoosa Counties

The Weather Service has canceled the tornado warning for Lee and Chambers Counties as the storm has weakened.

UPDATE 2:07
The tornado warning has been cancelled for Tallapoosa County as the possible tornado is going to stay south of the county. There could be some large hail in extreme southeastern Tallapoosa County south of Camp Hill. Heavy rain and hail will cross highway 280 shortly. At 2:09 the strongest rotation was just south of Roxana.

The NWS Birmingham has issued a tornado warning for parts of southwestern Chambers, northern Lee and southern Tallapoosa Counties.

The possible tornado is just southwest of Waverly on the Tallapoosa/Lee County line.

It is moving northeast at about 15 mph. It will pass near Waverly, crossing US-280 in that vicinity.

The storm will eventually pass between Cusseta and Lafayette.

Auburn and Opelika are not in danger at this time as the storm is expected to pass north of those communities.

It shoudl stay south of Camp Hill.
