| April 15, 2012 @ 12:55 am

This week marked the 65th anniversary of one of the worst tornadoes in Oklahoma history.

On April 9, 1947, 116 people died as one third of the town of Woodward was destroyed by a tornado.

According to the NWS Norman, there are multiple reports of structural damage from an apparent tornado that struck the town around 12:18 early this morning. A tornado warning was issued for Harper County, specifically mentioning Woodward at 12:00, with a severe weather statement again mentioning Woodward at 12:08.

Here is a radar from the time the tornado was hitting the town.

Hopefully everyone got the warning and was in a safe place.
