Clouds Hang Tough

| January 8, 2012 @ 2:10 pm

Clouds are hanging tough across Central Alabama this afternoon.

Much of the precipitation is now over South Central Alabama. At 2 p.m., showers were lined up from Demoplis to Marion to Clanton. Others were over East Alabama’s Randolph County. Areas north of I-20 were free of precipitation.

These showers were lifting east northeast and may try build back into the I-20 corridor over the next few hours. More showers were massing over southern Mississippi.

The frontal system is stationary just south of US-278 over North Central Alabama. North of it, temperatures over North Alabama were in the 50s. In the I-20 corridor, they had risen to the lower 60s. They won’t go much higher thanks to the clouds.

Expect more of the same through tomorrow. Then rain chances will increase on Tuesday and we will deal with a few strong to possibly severe thunderstorms by late Tuesday.
