Raw, Cold October Day

| October 19, 2011 @ 6:10 am | 5 Replies

**This week the Weather Xtreme video is the student weather briefing here at the National Weather Association annual meeting at the Wynfrey; it will be posted by mid-morning. We will get back to the regular production schedule Friday**

COLD AIR IS HERE: The long awaited change to cold weather happened right on time last night, and this morning we are dealing with low clouds, drizzle, and a chilly north wind with temperatures in the 40s. This will indeed be a raw day, with temperatures struggling to reach the mid 50s. Clouds should hang tough all day, although parts of South Alabama might see some sun this afternoon.

Look for slow clearing tonight, and by tomorrow morning we will be in the mid to upper 30s. The greatest chance of frost on a widespread basis will come early Friday with a clear sky and light wind; the colder valleys should reach the freezing mark for the first time this season.

FINE FALL WEEKEND: Sunny comfortable days and clear cold nights for Saturday and Sunday; the high will be in the upper 60s Saturday, followed by low 70s Sunday. Perfect for race weekend at Talladega, college and high school football, or anything else outdoors.

The dry weather will continue into at least the first half of next week.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 90 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40.
