Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Jefferson County Until 9:30 PM CDT
A line of severe thunderstorms is racing into Jefferson County this evening. At 8:30 PM CDT, radar indicated storms stretching from near Arkadelphia to just southwest of the Gorgas Steam Plant, moving east at 55 mph. These storms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, which could result in damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines.
Locations in the path include: Birmingham, Mountain Brook, Gardendale, Pinson, Liberty Park, Pleasant Grove, Adamsville, Chalkville, Ensley, Sayre, Cardiff, Mulga, Shannon, Lipscomb, Watson, Palmerdale, Shops of Grand River, and the Birmingham Fairgrounds.
Residents in the warning area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. This storm is moving quickly and may arrive with little advance warning. The warning is in effect until 9:30 PM CDT. Stay alert for additional severe weather updates throughout the evening.
