Record-Breaking Rainfall Sunday in Central Alabama

A soggy Sunday brought record rainfall totals to parts of Central Alabama, with both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa setting new daily precipitation records for April 6th.

In Birmingham, a total of 2.83 inches was measured at the airport, breaking the previous record of 2.47 inches set in 2014.

Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa recorded an impressive 3.26 inches of rain, surpassing the old record of 2.71 inches from 2005.

While the bulk of the heaviest rain has now exited the region, the saturated ground continues to pose a risk for localized flooding into Monday.
