Flash Flood Warning Issued for Montgomery and Surrounding Areas Until 3:30pm

A flash flood warning has been issued until 3:30pm for portions of the following counties: Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery. So far, 2-4 inches of rain has fallen in this area and between 1-2 more inches are possible this afternoon. Roads may become flooded without warning, so please be careful when driving in this area. If you are unsure of the depth of water on a roadway, turn around.

 

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Elmore County in east central Alabama...
  Eastern Lowndes County in south central Alabama...
  Montgomery County in south central Alabama...

* Until 330 PM CDT.

* At 1228 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

  Montgomery, Wetumpka, Mosses, Hayneville, Meadville, Pike Road,
  White Hall, Lowndesboro, Snowdoun, Hyundai Motors Of Alabama, Hope
  Hull, Pinedale, Pintlala, Woodcrest, Dannelly Field, Sprague,
  Alabama State University, Alabama State Capitol, Montgomery
  Riverwalk Stadium and Maxwell Air Force Base.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
