Tornado Watch Til 9 p.m. Includes Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin Counties in Alabama

| April 5, 2025 @ 1:58 pm

Tornado Watch Number 124 has been issued for parts of northwest Alabama, southern Kentucky, and western and middle Tennessee until 9:00 PM CDT. A well-organized bow echo and scattered supercells could produce a few tornadoes, including a couple of strong ones, widespread damaging winds up to 75 mph, and hail up to 1.5 inches. Residents should monitor the weather closely and be ready to act if warnings are issued.

A line of strong to severe storms is moving east out of northwest Mississippi and is expected to reach the western parts of the area between 6:30 and 7 PM. The line has a history of producing damaging winds and bowing segments. Meanwhile, new showers are developing ahead of the line near Columbus, Mississippi. These may stay weak due to a cap, but could intensify quickly if the cap breaks before the main line arrives.
