| March 31, 2025 @ 7:10 am

New severe thunderstorm warning in North Alabama for parts of Madison and Jackson counties. Strong bowing segment east of Huntsville moving northeast.

Flash flood warnings continue for much of Franklin as well as parts of Colbert and Lawrence counties.

Severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Marion county as well as all of Fayette county.

In addition, a tornado warning is in effect for south Fayette county. The NWS says they are not leaning toward continuing the tornado warning into Tuscaloosa and Walker counties, which is good news. They already have signifciant weather advisories up for parts of Winston and walker counties as well as parts of Pickens and Tuscaloosa counties.

At 7:05 a.m., radar indicated a MCS, or mesoscale convective system, over Northwest Alabama. The apex was near the Franklin/Lawrence/Winston County line intersection. Strong storms cover southern Lawrence, much of Winston, northwestern Walker, much of Fayette, northwestern Tuscaloosa and northern Pickens counties.

The storms extend into eastern Mississippi including Noxubee and Kemper countries, where the storms are quite nasty. Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for a large part of East Central and southeastern Mississippi in association with another MCS that is moving east northeast. This was well depicted in the convection allowing models overnight. This activity will push into Central Alabama through teh morning hours and will continue to cause severe weather.

The threat for severe weather continues for much of Alabama until early afternoon. Severe thunderstorm watches are in effect for North and central Alabama until noon and Southwest Alabama until 1 p.m. CDT.
