Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Southwest Alabama, Panhandle

| March 31, 2025 @ 6:10 am

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for southwest Alabama, including areas from southeast Mississippi into the western Florida Panhandle, as a line of intense thunderstorms continues pushing eastward this morning.

The line, already producing occasional bowing segments over southern Mississippi and southeast Louisiana, is expected to bring damaging wind gusts of 55–70 mph and possibly isolated hail up to quarter size as it moves into Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.

While low-level shear and instability may limit the tornado potential, it is not zero—so a brief spin-up can’t be ruled out. This line of storms will move across the region through midday, and residents should stay alert for warnings.
