Weekly Drought Update: Moderate to Severe Drought Continues; Some Relief on The Way
This week, we have definitely noticed some improvements with the drought monitor after the rain and storms the other day. But with that said, a fairly large portion of the state remains in a moderate to severe drought. According to this weeks update, the percentage of the state in a moderate drought only decreased by about 1%, and the same goes for the severe drought. However, we no longer have any portion of the state in a extreme drought, and some areas have also been voided of the abnormally dry category as well.
Some relief is likely this week with an approaching winter storm. WPC has much of the state receiving 1/2-1″ of QPF this week, with isolated higher amounts.
