Strong Thunderstorms to Impact Portions of Fayette, Lamar, & Pickens County

Strong thunderstorms are expected to impact Pickens, southwestern Fayette, and southern Lamar counties through 9:00 PM CST.

At 8:05 PM CST, Doppler radar detected thunderstorms along a line extending from near Caledonia to near Brooksville. These storms are moving northeast at 45 mph.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible with these storms. Gusty winds may knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations likely to be affected include Vernon, Gordo, Reform, Millport, Carrollton, Pickensville, Kennedy, Belk, Ethelsville, Ashcraft Corner, Bevill Lock and Dam, Crossville, Cody, North Pickens Airport, McShan, Shaw, Owens, Star, Lubbub, and Hightogy.

Residents in these areas should remain alert and take precautions to secure loose outdoor items.
