CANCELED – Tornado Warning for Marion Co. Until 10:30PM

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Tornado Warning for Marion County in northwestern Alabama, effective until 10:30 PM CST. At 9:48 PM CST, severe thunderstorms capable of producing a tornado were located along a line extending from near Detroit to near Gu-Win, moving northeast at 60 mph. Radar indicated rotation within the storm, posing a significant tornado threat.

This tornado is expected to produce dangerous flying debris that can be harmful to anyone caught without shelter. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed, and damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles is likely. Tree damage is also possible.

Locations likely to be impacted include Hamilton, Winfield, Haleyville, Guin, Hackleburg, Brilliant, Gu-Win, Brinn, Weston, Lake Buttahatchee, Bear Creek, Twin, Tucker, Tessner, Pearces Mill, Rankin Fite Airport, Upper Bear Creek Reservoir, Byrd, Bexar, and Pigeye.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Stay alert and take immediate action to ensure your safety.
