Remaining Chilly Over North Alabama Due to Clouds; However, Sunny Locations Are Not That Much Warmer

| December 21, 2024 @ 11:17 am

While a good bit of you across the state of Alabama are seeing plenty of sunshine, we still have some stubborn clouds hanging around over the northern portions of Central Alabama and up into the Tennessee Valley. Where those clouds are, temperatures are being held back in the mid 30s to the lower 40s, while lower 40s to the upper 40s are being reported from I-20 down to the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Huntsville’s reporting station was at 35 degrees with winds out of the north at 12 mph. On the warm end of the spectrum (I wouldn’t say warm, per se), the reporting station at Montgomery was reading 47 degrees with a north wind at 8 mph. The Birmingham Airport was reporting 41 degrees with northeast winds at 12 mph.

Hopefully, these clouds will move out soon and we can get a little solar heating. Afternoon highs will reach the lower 40s to the lower 50s across the region with sunny skies for most. For tonight, clear skies will allow any heat to escape, and we can expect lows in the lower 20s to the mid 30s. Sunday will be slightly warmer across the region, especially with sunny skies. Highs will range from the mid 40s in the north to the upper 50s in the south.
