SPC Monitoring The Risk of Severe Weather; Issues Mesoscale Discussion For a Possible Watch Issuance
The storm prediction center is monitoring the need for a possible tornado watch issuance, and will also be upgrading portions of the area to a level 2/5 slight risk for severe weather. It is uncertain whether or not a watch will be needed, but they are currently giving the probability for watch issuance a 40% chance.
The severe weather parameters still remain fairly marginal in nature, but there is enough instability and wind shear to support a risk for isolated damaging winds or a brief tornado mainly south of Birmingham.
