Frost and Freeze Alerts Issued for Central Alabama

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Frost Advisory for much of Central Alabama effective from 3am-8am Friday morning. Temperatures within the frost advisory will drop to as low as 33 degrees, and a widespread frost is expected. The advisory covers the following counties: Sumter, Marengo, Bullock, Russel, Pike, Barbour, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Jefferson, Shelby, Greene, Hale, Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Chambers, Dallas, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore, Montgomery, Macon, and Lee.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has also issued a Freeze Warning for parts of north central Alabama, which is in effect from 3am until 8am Friday morning. Temperatues as low as 30 degrees will result in a freeze in these areas. The freeze warning is in effect for the following counties: Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston, Walker, Blount, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, St. Claire, Talladega, Clay, and Randolph.

If you have sensitive outdoor vegetation, be sure to bring them indoors or cover them to protect them from frost and freeze conditions. If you have an in ground sprinkler system, you should drain them and cover any above ground pipes.
