Blizzard Anyone? Check Out These Snowfall Totals in New Mexico and Colorado!
This past week, a significant winter storm impacted parts of New Mexico, Colorado, and western Oklahoma. Some areas saw more than 3 feet of snow, with a few reports of more than 40 inches! Blizzard warnings were in effect for some areas due to strong winds resulting in whiteout conditions and blowing snow.
In the above graphic, you can even see the snow cover on satellite! All that white coloration on the map is the snowfall left over from this storm. Because of how much snow fell, many roads remain closed this morning. So if you have travel plans to these areas, keep this in mind.
This same storm system also brought severe weather to portions of north Texas and southern Oklahoma yesterday, with severe thunderstorm warnings and at least one tornado warning. Luckily, the damage appears to be very minimal as there were no storm reports submitted to the Storm Prediction Center.
