Tropical Storm Rafael Continues to Steadily Weaken

As of the 9am CST update from the NHC, Rafael has continued to weaken overnight and now has sustained winds of 50 mph. He continues to move WNW at around 6mph, but is expected to slow to a crawl later today before making that sharp south turn towards Mexico.

An area of thunderstorm development continues to be monitored over the Leeward Islands by the NHC, but chances for any notable tropical development remain low, at only 10%. We will continue to monitor this over the coming days.
