This graphic by the NHC is an unusual-looking one. That’s because Rafael is expected to continue heading west over the next couple of days, then make a sharp town south late this weekend. We expect Rafael to remain over the Gulf as it weakens into a tropical depression by the middle of next week.
ALABAMA COAST: Expect dangerous surf and rip current conditions along much of the Gulf Coast shore line over the coming days. Remain vigilant if getting in the ocean, and always refer to local authorities regarding the status of the water.
We are monitoring another area that could see tropical development. Right now, the NHC has an area near the Greater Antilles set at a 20% chance of development over the next 7 days. We will continue to keep an eye on this.
