WPC projected rainfall amounts through next Saturday evening at 7PM CDT.

SUNDAY: For today, a cold front will begin to push into the northern part of Alabama, bringing slightly cooler temperatures. We could see a few isolated, light showers across northern counties, though the majority of Central Alabama will remain dry. Afternoon highs will range from the mid-70s to mid-80s.

THE WORK WEEK AHEAD: Looking ahead to next week, high pressure will settle in from the north, establishing a wedge pattern over the region by Monday. This will result in mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, with highs in the mid-70s to lower 80s across the state. Conditions remain pleasant into Tuesday, with continued sunshine and highs again ranging from the mid-70s to lower 80s. By Wednesday, a ridge will develop over the Southeast, bringing a light southeasterly flow. This will lead to a modest warming trend, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

As we approach Thursday, a cold front will advance from the west and northwest, drawing in warmer and more humid air from the south. However, the ridge should hold strong, keeping conditions mostly dry. Highs will be in the upper 70s to mid-80s. By Friday, the cold front will continue to interact with the ridge, though rain chances will remain low. Northern parts of the state may see a few isolated showers, but the majority of Alabama will stay dry, with highs in the lower 70s to lower 80s.

NEXT WEEKEND: Through the weekend, the ridge will continue to suppress significant rain chances. Expect partly cloudy skies on Saturday, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s. By Sunday, temperatures will cool slightly, with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the mid-70s to lower 80s across Central Alabama.

THE TROPICS: Now turning to the tropics, we have some good news: over the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, no tropical cyclone development is expected over the next week. So, there are no concerns at this time.
