Latest U.S. Drought Monitor Released: Big Increase in Moderate Drought Conditions.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor outlook shows a big jump in the amount of the state now under moderate drought conditions. We sat at 34.65% of the state last week but now, just over 60% of the state experiencing a moderate drought. Only 8.98% of the state is classified as “none” under this report. Severe drought up just slightly to 1.99% of the state. This is still found along the Alabama/Tennessee line and across portions of Perry, Dallas, Wilcox and Marengo Counties.
