We Continue to Stay Rain-Free for at Least the Next Seven Days

TODAY: We continue to have a northerly flow across the state today from a surface high located to our north and northeast. There will be no major changes in our weather pattern for a while. We’ll have sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

THIS WEEK: Each day in the forecast period will look and feel nearly the same with only slight differences in temperatures. Monday will be sunny with highs in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Tuesday will be sunny and dry with highs in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Sunny and dry again on Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. Thursday will feature slightly cooler temperatures in the north, but we continue the dry streak with highs in the mid 70s to the mid 80s. And we end off the work week on Friday with sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s to the lower 80s.

NEXT WEEKEND: We will be slightly warmer to start off the weekend as Saturday will be sunny with highs in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. And at the end of the forecast period on next Sunday, the dry streak continues with sunny skies and highs in the mid 70s to the lower 80s.

THE TROPICS: Tropical Depression Nadine is weakening over southern Mexico with winds of 30 mph, moving west-southwest at 14 mph. Heavy rains of 4-8 inches, with isolated areas up to 12 inches, are expected across northern Belize, northern Guatemala, and parts of southern Mexico through Tuesday. The storm is expected to dissipate later today.

Hurricane Oscar has made landfall on Great Inagua Island with 80 mph winds and is moving west at 12 mph. The storm is expected to reach Cuba’s Guantanamo or Holguin provinces as a hurricane this afternoon, then weaken as it crosses eastern Cuba tonight. Hurricane warnings are in effect for parts of Cuba and the southeastern Bahamas, with tropical storm warnings for the Turks and Caicos. Heavy rains of 5-10 inches, with isolated amounts up to 15 inches, are expected in eastern Cuba, along with dangerous storm surge and large waves.
