Drought Monitor: No Major Changes Across the State
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor issued their latest analysis. With dry weather prevailing this month so far across Alabama (and really not seeing too much of a change in that for a little while), abnormal dryness and moderate drought (D0 and D1) remained essentially unchanged from last week, where most of the state is covered by one of these classifications.
There is still only one small area of severe drought, this is near the AL/TN line. It clips nearly 21% of Limestone County (the northern part). Also cover less than 2% of Lauderdale County and Madison County.
When it comes tot he Lawn and Garden Moisture Index, a good chunk of the state is in a precipitation deficit. The lowest readings extend from south of Birmingham area and points southwest.
