Pressure in Milton Down to 899 Millibars

| October 7, 2024 @ 6:12 pm

The NOAA Hurricane Hunter plane found a central pressure of 898.6 millibars at 5:20 p.m. CDT this afternoon. On the vortex data message, this is listed as 899 mb.

This ties Hurricane Milton with 1980’s Hurricane Allen as the 5th deepest Atlantic hurricane on record.

The eye is circular and 4 nm in diameter. That is a true pinhole eye.

The area of cold cloud tops less than -80C is larger than I personally have ever seen. Milton is not through strengthening I fear.

The NOAA plane is still in the hurricane. An Air Force plane is enroute.
