Milton Is Officially a Category 5 Hurricane. Special Update from the National Hurricane Center.

As I sit here just watching data flow in and all the updates on X from my tropics list….I knew it was coming.  The hurricane hunter aircraft recon data has come in and we have a Cat 5 hurricane.  Max winds are now 160 mph.  The pressure has dropped to 925 mb! At the 10am CDT advisory, the pressure was 933 mb.

…MILTON RAPIDLY INTENSIFIES INTO A CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE…

Data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate
that Milton has strengthened to a category 5 hurricane. The
maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 160 mph (250 km/h) with
higher gusts. Data from the aircraft also indicate that the
minimum pressure has fallen to 925 mb (27.31 inches).
