3PM CDT Radar Update: Flash Flood Warnings as Heavy Rainfall Continues

There has been quite a lot of rainfall today in Eastern/Southeastern Alabama. Right now, there are two active flash flood warnings: one including Northwestern Dale county, and the other including Chambers and Lee counties.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Northwestern Dale County in southeastern Alabama…

* Until 545 PM CDT.

* At 235 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Ozark, Fort Novosel, Enterprise, Level Plains, Newton, Ariton,
Marley Hill, Dill, Dale County Lake, Dillard, Blackwell Field A/p,
Hooper Stage Field, Dean Church Road, Beamon, Greater Salem
Church, Mabson, Arguta, Ewell, Hunt Field and Klondyke Hill.

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Southeastern Chambers County in east central Alabama…
Central Lee County in east central Alabama…

* Until 600 PM CDT.

* At 301 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

Auburn, Opelika, Lanett, Lafayette, La Fayette, Lakeview, Cusseta,
Oak Bowery, Chambers County Lake, Beans Mill, Huguley, Denson,
Auburn University, Beauregard, Fredonia, Amity Park, Veasey Creek
Park, Mount Jefferson, Lanett Municipal Airport and Robert G.
Pitts Airport.

Remember: do not drive on flooded roadways. A lot of rain has fallen in the last few hours, and substantial flash flooding is occurring with these storms. Additional rainfall will occur this afternoon, and will likely worsen conditions. Even in areas where a flash flood warning is not currently in place, flooding could begin to occur at any point.
