Flood Warning for Big Nance Creek at Courtland Extended. Major flooding occurring.

The NWS Huntsville has extended the flood warning for the Big Nance Creek at Courtland (Lawrence County) through late tonight.  The stage this morning was 20.8 feet with the maximum stage over the past 24 hours at 21.3 feet.

IMPACTS…At 20.0 feet, Water is approaching homes south of downtown Courtland…with several streets impassible. Water reaches the underside of the bridge at Old Highway 20 in Courtland.

The river is expected to fall below flood stage late this evening and continue falling to 1.8 feet Saturday morning.
