Flood Warning for Big Nance Creek at Courtland in Lawrence County; Expected to Rise Above Flood Stage Late This Afternoon
As we have talked about this morning, parts of Lawrence County have see over 6-9 inches of rain that has resulted in the flooding of numerous roads and a rise in creeks, streams and rivers.
At 9am, the Big Nance Creek at Courtland was at 9.8 feet. Bankfull stage is 12 feet. A rise is expected through this afternoon to a crest of 15.5 feet. Flood stage is 14 feet. Forecast is to fall below flood stage by Sunday morning.

downtown Courtland.

– At 9:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 9.8 feet.
– Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet.
– Forecast…The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this afternoon to a crest of 15.5 feet just after
midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late
tomorrow morning.
– Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
– Flood History…This crest compares to a previous crest of
15.5 feet on 03/03/2004.
