The Rest of Cullman County Now Under a Flash Flood Warning Until 11pm

| September 13, 2024 @ 8:57 pm

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Eastern Cullman County in north central Alabama until 11:00 PM CDT. At 8:54 PM CDT, emergency management reported that recent heavy rainfall has caused water to cover a bridge on County Road 703 in Cullman County. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen, and flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin soon.

This warning is due to flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. The impact includes potential flooding of small creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poorly drained or low-lying areas. Locations likely to be affected include Cullman, Hanceville, Good Hope, Holly Pond, Baileyton, Eva, Garden City, Walter, Phelan, and Joppa.

For your safety, remember to turn around and avoid driving through flooded roads, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night, when it is harder to see flooding dangers. Stay aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
