Flash Flood Warning for Russell County until 1030am CDT.

The hot spot this morning continues to be Russell County.  At least 2-3 inches of rain has fallen across parts of the county and flash flooding is imminent.  A flash flood warning also extends into parts of West Central GA for Western Chattahoochee County and Muscogee.


The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Russell County in southeastern Alabama…

* Until 1030 AM CDT.

* At 732 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE…Radar.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Phenix City, Seale, Russell County Sports Complex, Ladonia, Fort
Mitchell Activity Center, Uchee Creek, Fort Mitchell,
Parkmanville, Hatchechubbe, Phenix Drag Strip, Twin Springs and
Rutherford.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
