Rainfall rates in the storms moving through the Birmingham have come down some, but still could dump an inch of rain as they pass.

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
county, Jefferson.

* WHEN…Until 900 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 548 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood,
Mountain Brook, Hueytown, Gardendale, Fairfield, Fultondale,
Center Point, Pleasant Grove, Tarrant, Midfield, Adamsville,
Brighton, Lipscomb, Graysville, Lake View and Sylvan Springs.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
