Francine Appears To Be Intensifying As It Is Getting Ready to Make Landfall
The Air Force Hurricane Hunters just reported an extrapolated sea level pressure of 974 mb and max flight level winds of 99 knots.
This translates into 100 mph at the surface.
The SFMR instrument estimated surface winds at 75 knots, or 86 mph.
So the recent radar trends of stronger convection in that northern eyewall have translated into lower pressure and higher winds.
