High Rip Current Risk Along the the Alabama and western Florida Panhandle Beaches
A lot of folks may be heading to the beaches this holiday weekend! The NWS Mobile has placed the AL and Western Florida Panhandle beaches under a high rip current risk. The surf will be dangerous for all swimmers. The surf height is forecast to be between 2 and 3 feet.
Lifeguards are reporting strong rip currents and elevated surf. There are storms building as well which is worsening things. In fact a flood advisory has been hoisted for parts of Baldwin County (AL) and Escambia County (FL). Doppler radar indicating that some areas have picked up a quick 2 inches of rain. Additional heavy rain expected and could create flooding in low lying areas. Heads up Orange Beach and Caswell.
Be weather aware if you are heading to the coast.

– At 955 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms slowly
training across far southern Baldwin and far southwestern
Escambia counties. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the advisory area. Some locations have
quickly received up to around 2 inches of rain and additional
heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying areas.
